Diagnosing endometriosis currently takes an average of 7.5 years. During this time, millions of people who menstruate face recurring pain, emotional distress, and a lack of clarity about their condition. The SENSOPAD project is working to help achieve an easier diagnosis timeline, through the creation of two innovative diagnostic technologies designed to detect and monitor endometriosis in a faster, less invasive, and more accessible way.

Why are we conducting these surveys?

To ensure that these technologies are not only scientifically sound but also relevant, usable, and acceptable, we are launching two surveys, one for menstruators and another for healthcare professionals (e.g., gynaecologists and general practitioners). These surveys are a vital part of the project’s user research.

They aim to:

  • To gain insights into current practices related to menstrual health, diagnosis, and care of endometriosis from both menstruators and healthcare professionals across Europe.
  • Identify participants willing to take part in follow-up interviews to dive deeper into their views.

Who can participate?

  • Menstruators aged 18 and older living in Europe.
  • Healthcare professionals involved in menstrual and reproductive health (such as gynaecologists, nurses, or general practitioners).

All responses are anonymous, and participation is entirely voluntary.

What will participation involve?

  • Completing an online survey that takes around 10–13 minutes.
  • Optionally, agreeing to be contacted for a follow-up interview to discuss your answers in more depth.

There is no financial compensation, but your voice will directly impact how these tools are designed, ensuring they are non-invasive, user-friendly, and ethically sound.

Why your input matters

Too often, medical devices are developed without considering how they will fit into the daily lives of the people they’re meant to help. By contributing to this research, you are helping to shift that narrative. Your feedback will be transformed into user stories realistic, natural-language descriptions of how people interact with the technology. These stories will directly guide how the devices function, look, and feel.

Confidentiality and ethics

All data will be processed in compliance with GDPR and Horizon Europe’s ethical standards.

No identifying information will be collected or published.

Please note that this is NOT a medical study. We are not collecting health data or testing the devices. Instead, we are interested in your opinions, experiences, and expectations to help guide the design and development of the tools.

Available languages

To reach participants across Europe, the surveys are available in the following languages:

English, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Greek, Danish, German, French, and Polish.
