About SENSOPAD
About SENSOPAD
Endometriosis is a complex and often debilitating condition that affects millions of women worldwide. However, early detection remains a significant challenge, with most diagnoses occurring only after symptoms have already progressed. The lack of reliable screening tools and effective treatment options underscores the urgent need for innovative solutions that enable early detection and continuous disease monitoring. SENSOPAD is seeking to address this need by developing self-monitoring and point-of-care (PoC) devices that leverage biomarkers found in menstrual fluids. By integrating innovative biosensing technologies with portable, cost-effective, and biodegradable materials, the project aims to change how endometriosis is detected. Through a user-friendly and non-invasive approach, SENSOPAD aims to empower women with accessible tools for proactive health monitoring, reducing the burden of delayed diagnoses and improving overall healthcare outcomes.
Beyond technological innovation, SENSOPAD prioritises real-world applicability by engaging industry partners, healthcare providers, and endometriosis patient organizations. By ensuring regulatory compliance, addressing industrial scalability, and fostering public awareness, the project sets solid basis for a future where early detection and disease management become an integral part of women’s healthcare.
At its core, SENSOPAD is developing sensoPAD, a sensor-equipped sanitary pad that tracks biomarkers for menstrual cycle monitoring, together with sensoMFgFET, a complementary point-of-care device that uses the latest graphene technology for accurate clinical assessments. Moreover, the project will develop a mobile app and a cloud platform that seamlessly integrate the insights from both technologies for real-time tracking and personalized health insights. These innovations not only facilitate earlier intervention but also help reduce reliance on expensive, time-consuming lab tests, making diagnosis more efficient and affordable. By contributing to shorten diagnostic delays and easing the strain on healthcare systems, SENSOPAD promotes a more proactive, inclusive approach to care. Through its scientific advancements, SENSOPAD aims to redefine endometriosis diagnosis, making early detection and self-monitoring the standard for better, more inclusive healthcare.
